There were 23 middle school teams that competed at Shades Valley H.S. this past weekend in Science Olympiad. They came from Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and Mississippi as well as Alabama.

John David Clifton and Cameron Matthews  won 1st Place in the Astronomy event. (They were the only public school  students to win any event.

John David and T.C. Fox placed 4th in Optics, and John David placed 4th again along with Josiah Shuffett in Forestry.

Marching Spartan Color Guard TryoutsUse SHIFT+ENTER to open the menu (new window).

Any 8th grade girl interested in trying out for 2012-13 Marching Spartan Color Guard must sign up and pick up an information packet from the band office.  Tryouts will be Friday, April 20th – mandatory clinic April 16-19.  A mandatory meeting for all participants and their parents or guardian will be held Thursday, March 29, at 6:30pm in the High School band room.  If you have any questions see Mr. Chapkin.

Dance team tryouts clinic will be April 30 to May 4 from 3:15 – 5:00.  Tryouts will be held May 4.  Both tryouts and clinic will be held at the High School.  If you did not attend the tryouts meeting but are interested in trying out for middle or high school dance team please see Ms. Lunsford ASAP! 

Coach King is holding a skills clinic for anyone interested in trying out for middle or high school dance team on Thursdays from 3:15 to 4:30 at Middle School Dance Room from now until tryouts clinic begins.  The cost for the skills clinic is $5.00.  You pay when you arrive at clinic each week. 

Ms. Lunsford’s class is in need of toilet paper rolls for an art project.  Please bring your empty toilet paper rolls to Ms. Lunsford.  Thank you!
